The challenge

Ocean Grove Bowls Club had built an outstanding facility over many years, but as the sport evolved, the club recognised it needed to progress. Competing with the nation’s best meant more than performance on the green, it meant matching that standard off it, through the facilities and experience the club could offer.

As other clubs began moving into electronic scoring and signage, Ocean Grove faced a genuine decision: go rink by rink with individual electronic scoreboards, or invest in a single, major board capable of capturing every rink at once, and using that same system to support the club’s growing partnership base.

What we delivered

LED Media worked with Ocean Grove to deliver a major LED board covering every rink from one screen, combined with the flexibility to run advertising for the club’s business partners, broadcast content, or event scoring, all switched with the press of a button. Whether it’s promoting a partner, showing the footy, or running a live bowls scoring app during a tournament, the board adapts to whatever the club needs in the moment.

Our approach

Ocean Grove knew LED Media was the market leader in this space and wanted a partner who could combine the club’s own knowledge of its venue and members with genuine technical expertise. Together, that meant delivering a solution built specifically for a facility that operates as both a bowls club and a multi-purpose venue.

With a partnership portfolio of 70 to 80 business partners, the board gives every one of them meaningfully greater exposure, visible to anyone seated in the venue during an event, not just those out on the green.

The result

The impact was clear from the very first night. The grand opening ceremony, described by the club as “lit up like a Christmas tree,” marked the start of a new chapter for the venue. Around six months later, Ocean Grove hosted a World Bowls event, welcoming 33 countries to the green for an opening ceremony dinner ahead of a world championship, with LED Media’s rink signage integration serving as a genuine point of difference on the world stage.

As the club puts it, the experience working with LED Media was faultless, and Ocean Grove now encourages any club looking to redevelop its facilities and create a genuine point of difference through electronic technology to have a conversation with Dan.

"We’ve had a great experience working with LED Media. Communication has been spot on from day one, and their support team is always there when we need it. The screens themselves are seriously impressive. They’ve completely lifted the experience for visitors, players, officials, and spectators. Couldn’t recommend LED Media highly enough!"
